The Repsol rider Laia Sanz won her 9th Women`s World Trial Championship in France today, Saturday. Just 23 years old, this title is a new landmark in her long list of honours, she already has eight consecutive European titles, the most recent was won in July. Laia Sanz virtually wrapped up this latest title after winning the first round (held back in June, in Andorra) and today, the penultimate race before the final round which is to be held next week, she made sure of the victory as only the two best results of the possible three are counted.
Today`s race saw Sanz demonstrate that she is in a different class from the rest of her rivals, both technically as well as in concentration. The Repsol rider was not penalised at all on her first lap, but her closest rival received a penalty of eight. However, when lap 2 was underway rain began to fall and so the circuit became more demanding. In these conditions the Repsol rider grew and showed her superiority; once again she had the best score receiving just 8 points, compared to the 19 given to Iris Kramer, who was 2nd.The Women`s World Trial Championship will end next Friday 18th September in Darfo Boario, Italia.

I am more than satisfied with this 9th title and how I got it. Some people will ask whether I have enough with the 9 titles I have won but I have to say that I hope to win a lot more. Winning does not make me at all complacent, just the opposite. Each new title spurs me on to work hard for the next one. Regarding the sensations, I would say from the very first title to the ninth each one has been different. Perhaps because with each new championship there is what could be called more pressure, since the only relevant result for me is to win.
