Laia Sanz starts the road to what would be her eighth world title, all of them consecutive, with another victory

The Repsol rider Laia Sanz won the first date valid for the World Women´s Trial Championship held in Kramolin on Saturday. This triumph means that the Repsol-Montesa HRC team rider has got her battle for what would be her eighth title off to the best possible start, a figure that would beat the seven currently held by both Dougie Lampkin and Jordi Tarrés, two legends from this sport. There are three dates in this championship, each participant will retain their two best results for the final classification.
This gives Laia Sanz a chance to wrap up the title at the next date, on 22nd September in Spa-Francorchamps (Belgium). The third date will be six days later (28th September), on the Isle of Man (UK). The rain that fell on the days before the date meant that a selective date with a high level was to be expected. Nevertheless, in the morning the terrain was quite dry and the biggest difficulty was not to make mistakes, since any points that were lost would have been very difficult to recover. Laia Sanz finished without any penalisation and no points after the first round, but got one on the second. Laia Sanz  When we saw the zones yesterday it seemed to me that it would be a difficult trial because of the water. And it was so, it was complicated, but not because of what I had supposed but because with the terrain dried out it was not a comfortable date. It was one of those days where you have to suffer and you have to maintain complete concentration because you know that any mistake can turn out very expensive, since on very straightforward zones it is hard to recover any points lost. In the end everything went well and the possibility of discarding the worst of the three results made me feel a little more comfortable, but I did not feel either over confident or relaxed about achieving my objective, my eighth title. Classification 1st round 1.
