The Repsol Honda HRC team rider has gone 19 consecutive years as the king of Trial.
Toni Bou has become, through his talent, effort, and passion, a one of the most successful and consistent athletes in Spain and the world. With his 38th World Championship -his 19th in TrialGP, he has extended a streak that began in 2007, when he signed for Honda and began representing Repsol.
In the closing round of the season, held in the United Kingdom, Bou mathematically sealed his latest honour. Another emphatic campaign saw him take 10 wins and two second places in the 12 races held.
At 38 years old, he has participated in 398 races in both the outdoor and indoor disciplines, achieving a total of 255 wins and 330 podium finishes. He began as one of the sport’s most promising young talents, beating champions such as Dougie Lampkin and Takahisa Fujinami, and since then has gone on to break records in the sport.
His dominance has led him to accumulate more titles than anyone in the history of motorsport, including Motorcycle World Championship legends such as Giacomo Agostini and his 15 honours, Ángel Nieto with 12+1, Valentino Rossi with 9, and Marc Márquez with 8. In Trials, he has surpassed Lampkin’s 12 titles, as well as motocross rider Stefan Everts’ 10.
He has also achieved more success than 9-time WRC champion Sebastien Loeb, and 7-time Formula1 champions Michael Schumacher and Lewis Hamilton.
With 38 titles already to his name, the next milestone on the horizon for the Repsol Honda Team rider will surely be to reach the round figure of 40.
