On Saturday February 17th, the MotoGP World Champion will celebrate a quarter of a century in which he has one of the standout figures in the world of sports.
Marc Márquez turns 25 this weekend, and is already recognised as one of the greatest riders the MotoGP World Championship has ever seen. Already a winner of 125cc and Moto2 titles when he moved up to the premier class, the Repsol Honda team rider has been rewriting the history of the sport from a young age.
He was the second youngest rider in history to claim a Grand Prix podium –aged 15. He was also the second youngest rider of all time to win a World Championship, when he claimed the 125cc crown. In MotoGP, Márquez has continued to pass milestones and overtake other legends in the world of two wheeled competition.
Now 25 years old, the Spaniard’s achievements to date have earned him the recognition of rivals and fans alike.
2013: Youngest rider to win a race in the premier class (aged 20 years and 63 days).
Youngest World Champion in history in the premier class (aged 20 years and 266 days).
2014: Youngest rider in history to win ten consecutive races (aged 21 years and 174 days).
2017: His sixth title ranks him among the top ten riders in history, equalling Geoff Duke and Jim Redman on a list that is completed by John Surtees and Phil Read (with 7 titles), Carlo Ubbiali, Mike Hailwood and Valentino Rossi (9), Ángel Nieto (12+1) and Giacomo Agostini (15).
In the premier class, he is the eighth rider to achieve four titles or more, matching Geoff Duke, John Surtees, Mike Hailwood and Eddie Lawson. Mick Doohan earned five titles, Valentino Rossi has seven, and Giacomo Agostini, eight.

Youngest rider to achieve 100 podiums in the MotoGP World Championship, aged 24 years and 240 days, ahead of Valentino Rossi (25 years and 244 days).
