- Marc Marquez and Dani Pedrosa have 11 wins between them at Sachsenring: Marquez has won 2 MotoGP races, 2 Moto2 races and 1 125cc race, and Pedrosa has 4 MotoGP wins and 2 in 250cc.
- Marquez and Pedrosa earned a podium doublé last year after starting from pitlane.

This week the MotoGP World Championship moves on to Germany, where the Repsol Honda Team riders have an outstanding record. Marc Marquez and Dani Pedrosa have taken 5 consecutive premier class wins between them from the last 5 visits to the German track. Th race marks the midway point of the season, and comes off the back of an exciting round at Assen in which Marquez battled for the win until the final lap. Pedrosa had his most consistent round to date in the Netherlands, despite a crash in the warmup hindering his race. Together the two have 11 wins at the Sachsenring, and start the weekend as favourites.
For the Moto3 riders, the challenge of an unfamiliar track is again ahead of them. However, they are in great shape upon arrival at the Sachsenring. Jorge Navarro has had three consecutive races in which he has been just off the podium, whilst Fabio Quartararo was back on the rostrum two weeks ago at Assen. Maria Herrera has established herself race by race, and was inside the top ten when she was hit by another rider at the Dutch TT.
The German Grand Prix starts on Friday from 9am, with the Moto3 race on Sunday at 11am and the MotoGP contest starting at 2pm

“We worked well all weekend in Assen and we have found some positive progression with the bike. There are still some things to solve, but we have definitely made a step forward. Sachsenring is a small and twisty little circuit, unlike any others on the calendar. I’ve enjoyed good results here in the past and i hope this weekend can prove to be a good weekend for us also. The weather can be tricky there so we will have to work hard from the first session.”
Dani Pedrosa
“I’m looking forward to the next GP in Sachsenring, a track I that enjoy racing at. Last year we had a crazy race there but a good performance. The bike is starting to work better now and we hope to make some more progress in this GP, before the Summer break. My arm is recovering well and my fitness is improving and that is important to be able to fight at the front. My pace is getting better and I hope to make another step this weekend”
Fabio Quartararo
“The German Grand Prix is held at a very different circuit to others at which we have ridden, but I am very motivated after I managed a podium at Assen. I will try to do the same work this weekend, especially looking for a very good pace with used rubber, and we’ll see what happens. What I want is to give my best to be at the front. I’ve been watching videos of previous years and it is certainly going to be a difficult weekend, as we have to set up the bike to be comfortable in both the slow sections at the start of the track and the fast ones in the second half.”
Jorge Navarro
“Sachsenring is a track that could be very well suited to me, as it has a bit of everything: Slow corners, fast corners… When the bike works well, it goes well at every circuit –and I hope that Germany is another one like that. We arrive at this circuit after several good races, in which we have been progressing and improving. At Assen we were in the front group all race long, with a chance of fighting for the victory. We must use this good form and I’m sure we will continue to improve gradually.”
Maria Herrera
“The Sachsenring is a circuit I don’t know, so I will have to learn the track during the first free practices. I don’t know if the weather will favour us; it might rain and we could have a wet weekend, but I hope to do as well as in the Netherlands. Despite not finishing the race, we were very strong in Assen and rode fast, so I hope that we can continue along the same lines in Germany.”
