The reigning 125cc World Champion now knows how it feels in the saddle of a Moto2, after doing his first laps of the Jerez circuit on the bike he will use next season. Márquez went out on the Andalusian track at 12:20 p.m. and started to ride five-lap stints to get used to the feelings of the new category.
The day started off overcast and the track was full of puddles from the rain that fell yesterday, but the clouds gradually scattered and the sun finally came out. After making sure that the track offered good conditions, without large puddles and a temperature of around 23ºC, the Repsol rider did his first five laps and then went back to the garage to tell his team his initial feelings.
Márquez will continue testing today and tomorrow to carry on adapting to the new bike, on which he competes with a 600cc four-stroke engine and which is heavier and has much wider tyres than the small 125cc two-stroke bikes that he has ridden up until now. After adjusting his riding position and the gear and brake levers, the Repsol rider was able to get to know his new team, which thanks to its experience will help him to gradually improve his performance.
