  • Following his win last Sunday in Argentina, Marc Marquez has 25 victories in MotoGP.
  • On the first visit to the Circuit of the Americas in 2013, Marc Marquez achieved his first win in MotoGP. He repeated the feat in both 2014 and 2015.
  • On his last two appearances at Austin, in 2013 and 2014, Dani Pedrosa finished second behind his teammate.

Third round of the year brings good memories for Repsol Honda Team riders, as the scene of Marquez’ first win in MotoGP and two podium doubles with Dani Pedrosa.

Marc Marquez’s victory and Dani Pedrosa’s third place at the Argentinian Grand Prix take the pair into the third round of the season in good form. Next up on the calendar is the Grand Prix of the Americas –at a favourable circuit for the Repsol Honda Team duo. The event becomes the only MotoGP race held in the USA this season, but it is in Austin, Texas, that the team and Marc Marquez in particular have enjoyed special success in previous years. In 2013, Marquez took his first victory in the premier class at the track, joined in second place by Pedrosa. They repeated a podium double in 2014 and a year ago, with Pedrosa sidelined through injury, Marquez managed another win. After intensive preseason work and looking to continue development of their Honda bike for this season, Marquez and Pedrosa come to Austin first and third in the overall standings.

Marc Marquez

“We’ll see how we manage in Austin this year. It’s a track that I like, where I feel strong, and where I’ve always had good races and good fun. That said, the track rewards strong acceleration, which hasn’t been one of our strongest points so far this year, so we’ll have to wait and see how we can manage the situation. We’ll keep working hard, as we did in Argentina, and we’ll try to find the best pace for the Sunday race.”

Dani Pedrosa

“I’m looking forward to this round. There’s something special about the atmosphere of the American races, and besides, this is a track that I like very much. I didn’t make it here last year, but I made the podium the previous two seasons so the memories of the track are good. Our pace in the first two rounds hasn’t been as good as we would’ve liked, and we absolutely need to keep working to find some more speed; all in all, we’re third in the Championship, and we need to make a step forward if we want to fight for the podium at every race.”
