The Repsol rider completed two positive testing days in Italy, setting times under last year’s pole position time of the Tuscan track
Taking advantage of the free week before the next round of the Motorcycling World Championship, Marc Márquez and his team travelled directly from England to Italy, where yesterday and today had two intensive testing days at he Mugello circuit. Completing more than 100 laps in the Italian track, the Repsol rider set a fastest time of 1 minute, 54 seconds and 8 tenths, faster than the pole position set last year by Andrea Iannone – of 1 minute, 55 seconds and 6 tenths-.
After the low temperatures and the rain that were protagonists of the British Grand Prix, the sun and heat allowed for two productive days where Marc Márquez, completely recovered from his crash in Silverstone where he hit his right knee and wrist, was able to test different set-ups for his Moto2. The Repsol rider took the track yesterday at ten in the morning, with an ambient temperature of 24ºC and asphalt temp of 30ºC, that reached 29ºC and 52ºC on tarmac at the end of the day, completing 65 laps -more than 340 kilometres-.
Another 40 laps today allowed him to gather a total of more than 550 kilometres in two days, with the aim to improve his feeling with the bike for the race that will take place in this very same track in two weeks. Emilio Alzamora’s pupil, who again enjoyed a sunny and warm day (from 21ºC to 30ºC, and from 30ºC to 55ºC tarmac), worked together with his team and focused on improving his feeling on the bike, looking for a consistent race pace in the demanding Italian track.
Marc Márquez will resume competition next Thursday, June 23rd, with the first free practice for the Netherlands Grand Prix, just before the Italian Grand Prix that will be held in Mugello next July 1st..

“We have been very busy these two days testing a lot of different things, tying to find a good set-up for the race we will have here in two weeks. We checked different options and my feelings on the bike were very good, after the great job my team did. These two days of tests will be very important for the next races, as they helped me gathering kilometres on the bike and improve my riding. The team worked very hard and I am already looking forward to the next race in Assen”.
