Marc Márquez’ last test in the 2010 pre-season gets underway

Marc Márquez has got back to work in the last official test before the 125cc World Championship starts on 11 April in Qatar. The sun and the good temperatures welcomed the 125cc rider and from early in the morning, they were able to test under normal conditions, enjoying some track time, which Marc Márquez spent finishing off his adaptation to the Derbi RSA.

The good level demonstrated in the tests held at this venue and at the Catalunya and Comunitat Valenciana circuits has not made the team lose sight of its objective and the Repsol rider has continued thinking step-by-step, working on the general setup of his machine. After completing 53 laps and clocking up a best time of 1 minute 47 seconds 369 milliseconds in the combined stint with Moto2, the Repsol rider was again the fastest in the category, being the only one to come in at under one minute and 48 seconds.

After an hour’s break, when only the Moto2 riders went out on the track, the 125cc riders went back out between five and six. Making the most of the good temperatures at the Andalusia track, Márquez did two more stints, using both used and new tyres. He was not able to improve on his morning times, finishing third in the session and second in the overall standings of the day.

Marc Márquez, 1’47.369 sec, 67 laps, 297 KM
It went quite well because we immediately got a good feeling on the machine. I quickly picked up a good pace and throughout the day, we have been fairly consistent. We haven’t had to make too many adjustments to the setup because we did a good job last time we were here and things have gone well. Today’s goal was to pick up the pace and quickly clock up some good times because, as we were here not long ago, we had the settings clear. However, tomorrow we will try something different to try to finally get to grips with how the machine behaves”.
