At Sachsenring this past weekend, the Repsol Honda Team rider achieved his first victory since suffering an injury 336 days ago. He has followed in the footsteps of several athletes who have overcome career-threatening injuries to return to the top of their sport.
After his injury last season at the Circuito de Jerez-Ángel Nieto, which forced him out of action for 265 days, the eight-time World Champion has shown his determination and ability to overcome adversity. He has not only returned to competition, but he has capped his comeback with a victory this past weekend at the German Grand Prix. An emotional moment, it was his 57th win in the premier class.
Xavi Hernández, Tom Brady, Michael Schumacher, Lindsey Vonn and Dani Pedrosa are other sporting stars who have achieved similar feats in their sporting careers. Once again, Marc Márquez continues to show that he has no limits and possesses a special capability to recover from setbacks.
