Marc Márquez must wait another day to ride his first few kilometres on his new Moto2, as the rain falling on Jerez today has postponed the announced debut of the Repsol rider in the middle category. The newly-crowned 125cc World Champion and his new team preferred not to risk a hasty start in adverse conditions, staying in the garage in the hope that the weather improves tomorrow.
Given the important challenge Marc Márquez is facing, the Repsol rider has erred on the side of caution and patience that characterise him and postponed his first test on the Monlau Competición team’s Suter. With a bike unknown to Márquez, a team created from scratch and made to measure for the Repsol rider and in a totally new category for the 125cc champion, the rain was not his best ally for clocking up the first few kilometres of this new project.

“I was looking forward to riding and I still am because today I was left wanting to get started, as it has been raining and we decided not to go out on the track. If it rains tomorrow, I’ll have no choice but to ride in the wet because the days are coming to an end but to try a new bike, with a new team, it’s better to wait for better conditions. I’m really excited about this project, in which we will have a structure made up of people with a lot of experience and the support of two very strong sponsors to whom I’m very grateful for this opportunity, which does not come easily these days. We’ll see if the weather improves tomorrow because I can’t wait to try the bike, which will have the Suter chassis in the end, an option that proved competitive this season”.
