Marc Márquez to test his Derbi RSA over the next three days at Montmeló

The rider Marc Márquez will be back in action tomorrow, Wednesday, with the first test of 2010 after the 125cc World Championship winter training break imposed by the International Motorcycling Federation (FIM). This will be held at the Circuit de Catalunya and will be the first chance to see the young rider on his Derbi RSA wearing the colours of Repsol. For the third season running, the Spanish company will continue to support one of the most promising riders in Spanish motorcycling, who this year will compete in the heart of the Finnish team Ajo Motorsport.

Since he debuted in the World Championship, Márquez has become the youngest -Spanish rider to step on the Word Championship podium -2008 British Grand Prix- and also the youngest to achieve a pole position, last season, in the official practices of the French Grand Prix. In his third year in the Continental Circus, Márquez will again defend the colours of Repsol in a season in which he will change team and factory. Now part of the Ajo Motorsport outfit – winning team of the 2008 World Championship- and on a Derbi RSA, Marc Márquez will approach 2010 with the aim of confirming that he is one of the leading riders in 125cc.

During the break, Marc was able to disconnect from the pace of the competition, rest and enjoy the holidays with his family, as well as continuing to study more regularly than during the season. Even so, the gym, bicycle and motocross bike continued to form part of his day-to-day in order to start the pre-season on top form.

One of Márquez’ latest experiences was to ride on ice. The Repsol rider went to Finland, headquarters of Ajo Motorsport, where he was able to share with Aki Ajo – the manager of his new team and ten-time Finnish ice racing champion- a fun experience that was also useful for continuing with his preparation. On a bike fitted with studded tyres, the Repsol rider tried this speciality for the first time, demonstrating once again his enormous talent on any two-wheeled vehicle.

On his seventeenth birthday, Marc Márquez will put on his race suit to go out on a World Championship track for the first time in 2010. This will be tomorrow, Wednesday, and during the scheduled three day test at the Circuit de Catalunya, Márquez will aim to advance in adapting to both his Derbi RSA and his new team.

Marc Márquez
At last we are returning to the atmosphere I most like, because after so much time away from the tracks, I miss it. I have been doing motocross, enduro, going to the gym and cycling and even riding on ice, but I was looking forward to getting on my new bike. As always, we’ll have to start carefully, to pick up the pace of the tests, of the speed… And then, we will up the pace. These tests will be important for getting to grips with the machine and the team, although I had the chance to get to know some of them when I was in Finland at the team’s headquarter. It was quite cold, the temperature was twenty degrees below zero, but riding a bike on ice was fun. I was surprised how much grip there is because there is much more than on a dirt bike, almost like on a supermotard. I have rested a lot, which is always does you good, but it was time to get started again”.
