The Repsol rider adds in Misano his sixth victory in Moto2 and 145 points of the 150 available
The Repsol rider Marc Márquez’s performance in these last races reminds us of the one he had last year in 125cc, when the young rider of Cervera pushed to the max to add consecutive victories race after race on his way to the 125cc world Championship. His victory at the San Marino Grand Prix— sixth of the class and second consecutive —and Bradl’s second position, allow the Repsol rider to reduce by another five points in the overall standings and place himself 23 points behind the German rider.
The current World Champion of the 125cc class did again a superb job this weekend in a circuit where his main rival in the title battle, Germany’s Stefan Bradl, was very strong in all practice sessions. Starting from the second position of the grid, the Repsol rider had a spectacular race together with the also combative Stefan Bradl, Scott Redding and Andrea Iannone. Redding started pushing a lot and taking advantage of the several scares that had first Bradl during the first lap and then, in the third lap, Spain’s Márquez.
Just behind Márquez, Bradl and Redding was Smith, although he never caught up with them and local rider Iannone, who firs overtook Smith and then caught up with the three top riders. Three podium positions for four combative riders.
Márquez kept an exciting battle with the other three riders, a fight that finished only in the last laps of the race. Three laps from the end, the Repsol rider was able to take the lead and, taking advantage of the intense fight between his rivals, he escaped alone to the finish line.
The Moto2 rookie of the year, second in the overall standings, is now 23 points behind the Championship leader, Germany’s Stefan Bradl. In these last six races, Marc Márquez only lost five points of the 150 available, and reduced by 59 points the distance to the German rider.

“It was a race that we knew would be very tough. This was so especially in the first laps, where it took a bit of time to get confidence, because of the two scares with the front tyre, where I nearly crashed. From that moment on, the aim was to recover the feeling we had during the practice and reduce the distance. It was a race where we improved progressively and five laps from the end I knew I could be able to make a difference, although I arrived with the tyres nearly worn. It was the same for everyone, so I was able to open a small margin that gave us the win”.
