The Repsol Honda Team riders will compete at the Circuit de Barcelona – Catalunya this weekend, in the second round of the season held in Spain

The MotoGP World Championship moves on to Montmeló track this weekend to celebrate the eleventh event of the year, the Catalan Grand Prix.

After a positive weekend in Austria, Marc Márquez heads to a track where he has achieved 9 podiums – a victory in the 125cc, a second and a third place in Moto2 and two victories, three second places and a third place in MotoGP – and at which he will try to continue improving the base setup of his Honda RC213V.

The Repsol Honda team rider faces two consecutive weeks of competition that will conclude with an important test at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli on Monday, September 11th.

Joan Mir arrives in Barcelona with the aim of scoring points again and continuing to put kilometres under his belt to increase his performance, both in the sprint race on Saturday and in the race itself on Sunday.

The Repsol Honda Team rider also has podium experience at the track. Mir earned a win in 2017 during his time in Moto3 and later, in the season that he became MotoGP World Champion, finished second at the Catalan Grand Prix.

MARC MÁRQUEZ:

“The weekend in Barcelona is always a special one, seeing all of the stands full of people and as my home race I love to see all the fans there. No matter what, the objective is to put on a great show for everyone there and give them an enjoyable and memorable weekend. From our side, there’s work to do and we need to keep the calm approach we have had in the past few weekends. In Austria we saw that this way of working let us get through the weekend and gather good data for the project. We go again and begin a busy end to the year.”

JOAN MIR:

“I am looking forward to the weekend in Montmelo, my home GP. Of course I want to produce a good result in front of the local fans but we need to keep on working. In Austria we had an overall good weekend that unfortunately ended in not the best way. I am confident that we can have another weekend where we are fighting to be the top Honda.”
