  • – Marc Marquez has won San Marino GP three times: Once in 125cc (2010) and twice in Moto2 (2011 and 2012). In his debut season in the premier class he took second at Misano, after taking pole and the lap record with a time of 1:32.915.
  • – Dani Pedrosa won the 2010 MotoGP race, also taking pole and setting the fastest lap.
  • – Alex Rins took the win last year in Moto3 and Alex Marquez completed the podium with a third place, setting the track record with a time of 1’43.293.

Repsol Honda Team face last six races of the World Championship with wins at each of 12 MotoGP rounds to date. In Moto3, Marquez and Rins close in on the lead after Silverstone double.

The MotoGP World Championship goes into the final third of the season with the Repsol Honda Team leading the World Championship. Marc Marquez, winner of 11 of the 12 races held to date, gave no option of victory to his rivals at the most recent round and is at his best heading a track where one year ago he placed second. The reigning MotoGP World Champion and series leader has won three times at Misano (2010, 2011 and 2012). Dani Pedrosa, second in the overall standings, also knows what it takes to win at Misano, where he took the win, pole position and fastest lap in 2010.

Things are tighter in the Moto3 title fight. Alex Marquez trimmed the gap to series leader Jack Miller to 13 with second place at Silverstone. It was there that teammate Alex Rins opened his win tally for this season to pull himself up to third place overall –rejoining the battle to become World Champion.

Marc Marquez

“It was nice to be back on the top step of the podium in Silverstone, the team did a great job the whole weekend. Now we head to Misano which is a smaller and slower track compared to others on the calendar. We will have to work hard from Friday to get the setup on the bike just right, to suit the demands on braking at this twisty track and let’s hope the weather is also nice!”

Dani Pedrosa

“I’m looking forward to Misano this weekend! There is always a nice crowd over the three days and a good atmosphere with the Italian fans. Hopefully we’ll have good weather from the Friday and get things going in the right direction. It’s a short lap but intense with many overtaking points and it’s quite bumpy, so set up is key. Let’s hope for an exciting race!”

Alex Rins

“After the great result at Silverstone, we arrive at Misano raring to go. It’s a circuit where I have good memories, because I managed to win there last year. Together with the team we are working in the right direction and the results are coming. The test at Aragon last week allowed us to draw some good conclusions, which will help us to make the overall package even better.”

Alex Marquez

“Last year I came third in San Marino and I remember that, whilst during practice it took a while to set the bike up, ultimately the evaluation of the Grand Prix was positive. Misano is not one of my favourite tracks, but it suits me fairly well. What is certain is that it will be a weekend of hard work. At Silverstone we had a bit of an advantage with the Honda, but at this track I think the times are going to be very tight -because there there are places where acceleration is important, at which we will be very close to the KTMs. We go to Misano after a private test at Motorland Aragón last week, which helped us to try out different settings for the Honda which we think may be useful for this Grand Prix.”
