The Repsol Honda Team rider claims his 55th victory on a bike made by the Japanese manufacturer, more than any other man in history

Marc Márquez won the Australian Grand Prix held today at Phillip Island, passing Mick Doohan for all-time premier class wins. The most victories ever in 500cc/MotoGP belongs to Valentino Rossi (89), with Giacomo Agostini second (68). The 55 wins for the 2019 MotoGP World Champion also make him the man with the most victories with Honda.

After clinching the title in Thailand two races ago, Márquez equalled Jim Redman as the Honda rider with the most World Championships in all classes. The Spaniard has long been the manufacturer’s greatest rider in practice sessions topped and fastest laps set, also exceeding Doohan’s numbers from the 1990s.

With two races ahead, Márquez still has even more milestones within reach, with the chance to reach them at Malaysia and Valencia.
