Martin, Ramos and Fores triumph in Albacete

The CEV Repsol reaches its midseason with victories for Adrian Martin in Moto3, Roman Ramos in Moto2, and Xavi Fores, in the two Stock Extreme races.

In the fourth round of the CEV Repsol Calendar, the National Championship visited for the second time this year the Albacete Circuit, where only the Moto3 class saw a rider that is not the overall leader –Adrian Martin– take the first position. In Moto2 and Stock Extreme, Roman Ramos and Xavi Fores, took the chance –twice, in the case of the Valencian rider– to widen the difference in the classification and increase his lead.

The CEV Repsol riders will not need to wait too much to resume action, as in only two weeks they will meet at the fifth round of the Championship. It will be next September 22nd, at the Navarra Circuit.

Moto3
The small-displacement class was up to the expectations and offered a spectacular race. No rider was able to escape alone and eight of them reached the last lap with chances to get on the podium. In the end it was Adrian Martin who won the battle and crossed the Finish Line in first place, only 45 thousandths ahead of Jorge Navarro, second and 76 in front of Alejandro Medina, third.

The overall classification is a reflection of how close the Moto3 race was, as the new class leader, Bryan Schouten is only 2 points ahead of the second-place, Marcos Ramirez, and 10 in front of the third, Jorge Navarro.

Moto2
Comfortable victory for Roman Ramos in the intermediate category. Starting from pole position, the rider from Navarra set a searing pace since the moment the lights went out and no other rider was able to catch him. Ramos increased his advantage and crossed the Finish Line more than 6 seconds ahead of the second, Malaysian Hafizh Syahrin, and nearly 10 seconds over the third, Britain’s Kyle Smith.

With this second win of the season, Roman Ramos also increases his lead in the overall standings, with Alejandro Mariñelarena –second– 33 points behind, and Hafizh Syahrin –third– at 41.

Stock Extreme
The biggest-displacement class had two races in this CEV Repsol round and Xavi Fores won both of them indisputably. The Valencian completely dominated the Albacete round winning comfortably in both races. He was accompanied on the podium by the same riders both times: Carmelo Morales in second and Iván Silva in third.

The three top riders today also have the same positions in the overall standings, as the leader is Fores, with an advantage of 24 points over Carmelo Morales and 41 over Ivan Silva.

“After all the work we did during the weekend, this victory tastes great. For me, the race seemed endless, laps seemed not to pass at all. I was comfortable behind Navarro and I was waiting for his final attack. I knew that in the Practice I had a good pace, but I wasn’t so comfortable, but in the race everything went well. After the warm-up we changed many things and that allowed me to enjoy the race lap after lap.”

It was a fantastic race. We knew we had a good pace since the Friday practice. The plan was to try and start first, had no problems at the start and then set my pace and see if I was able to build a good advantage. I could quickly escape from the group, but despite that the race was quite tough, because it was very difficult to keep the focus. Everything went well and I must thank the team, as they worked very well the whole year and specially this weekend. We wanted to win after the summer break and, after taking the first place we are very happy. I want to send a message to Dani Ribas. He’s having a hard time but we hope we’ll see him soon here.”

My start wasn’t perfect. Carmelo [Morales] had a very good start and passed me. At the beginning my pace was faster, but during the first lap I wasn’t able to overtake him. In the next few laps we made some very narrow pases, but in the end nothing happened. Then I overtook Ivan [Silva] and decided to relax a bit, to take it easier. My plan was to build my advantage but without too much effort, because they were very important laps for me and for the bike. I started to set my own pace, in lap 8 or 9 of the 20 and there I could make a difference. I knew I couldn’t let my guard down because in the slow corner I saw the other riders near me and I didn’t want to risk the chance of them catching me. This is a very important win for the team and for me after a tough month, but we are here, we won and I must thank everyone who helped me.”

“Being the second race of the day it was much tougher. At the beginning Carmelo [Morales] started very fast again and my plan was the same as in the first race: to ride fast during the first laps to build my advantage. This time I was able to do it a bit earlier and then set my own pace. I couldn’t built such a big advantage until 3 or 4 laps from the end. The entire race we had a difference of around 3 seconds, but in the end I was able to increase it to 6, then I could relax. I want to thank the team again and now we have to focus on the Navarra round.”
