The Monaco Grand Prix, the most symbolic circuit race of the season alongside the 24 Hour Le Mans, was this weekend the scene of a new victory for the Repsol Classic Team. The Osca MT-4, driven by Carlos de Miguel won in category C, which groups together sports cars dating to before 1952.
The Monacan race takes place on the same urban track which will be used by Formula 1 in ten weeks time, and brings together the most important teams and drivers in the world, entered into different categories. For this occasion, the Repsol Classic Team lined up two cars: an Osca MT-4 driven by Carlos de Miguel and a Nash Healey driven by Miguel Arias. This last car finished third in the 24 Hour Le Mans race in 1952.
Competing against another 34 of the most prestigious makes of cars, outstanding amongst which were Jaguar, Aston Martin, Ferrari, Maserati and Frazer Nash, Miguel could take advantage of the lightness and manageability of his Osca MT-4 to take it to first in class. During the race, he had to overtake four cars with higher cubic capacity but less agility on the revered track of the Principality which determined the final result. Arias, with a few gearbox problems, managed to also finish the race and complete the success of the Spanish racing team.
The next meeting for the Repsol Classic Team will take place in July, on the occasion of the 24 Hour Le Mans. Looking towards this race, the team will carry out various private test sessions throughout May and June to perfect the setup for the cars which are entered for the Repsol Team. These will be a Ferrari 275 GTB, a Lancia Aurelia B-20, a Cadillac 62 and a Lagonda 45.
