Fonsi Nieto and Toni Elias will end 2002 with an eye already on the new season. The training that Jorge Martínez Aspar’s pupils have made in the Valencian circuit will be used for both Elias and Nieto, celebrate Christmas and New Year’s Eve already having an idea of the characteristics of the bike to contest the 2003 World Cup.
The day yesterday at the Ricardo Tormo circuit was used for removing rust after the break that both have done since the last Grand Prix of Valencia. Neither had turned her into a motorcycle Grand Prix since then, so the training yesterday served mainly to return to pick up the pace. If the weather yesterday respected all riders present in Cheste, today has not happened exactly the same, and appeared in mid-afternoon rain has forced to terminate the practice early. The day yesterday was virtually rust removal and return to pick up the pace quietly, because I had not climbed back to the bike since last Grand Prix of Valencia. Today was different and we have already begun working with the new chassis in 2003. In this frame the bike has become a new bike, so we had to spend a good time to put everything in place, footrests, handlebars, seat, saddle, etc … Anyway, today was about trying things and go get the motorcycle to my liking. Before the end of the session has started raining and this has forced us to terminate the second day. But there have been some positive training, and I’m very happy with my new coach, Giovanni Sandi, with which it has been very good connection from the outset. Now it is relax and enjoy good times with family. I hope the fans can do the same here like to congratulate all the parties and the new year.

I’m very happy, they have been really positive about training. Yesterday, before we get to work with the new chassis, we decided to try to focus on finding solutions to problems that had haunted us throughout the season: a lack of confidence and feeling in the front. After many changes and testing, we finally got to improve and solve this problem, and from that moment everything changed for me. I realized that I have not enjoyed this season on the bike because I could not drive with the aggressiveness with which I have ever driven. But thanks to improvements made everything has changed and I was finally able to roll with the chassis 2002, as I know it. But to reach that point has been necessary to spend much time these two days in boxes, making changes, adjustments and reviewing what he said telemetry. Yes, it has been a work a little heavy, but it was worth. This new chassis 2003 has a very good basis and allows many more adjustments. Once solved the problems of last year, now we know which path to take. The times we have these days do not interest me, like those achieved by Fonsi or the other riders.
