One-two for the Repsol riders in Japan

The Repsol Montesa HRC team rider, Toni Bou, got another triumph in this year`s  World Trial Championship, his fifth consecutive win on this the first day of the sixth round, the Japanese GP. The reigning World Champion dominated today`s two laps of the circuit, ending the first of them with the best points score of the day and establishing a difference over his rivals that in the end was definitive.

His teammate, Takahisa Fujinami, still in some pain after his fall three weeks ago on the first day of the British GP, rounded off a great performance by the Repsol Montesa HRC team to finish second. The Repsol rider set the second best points score  on each lap, and climbs two positions in the overall.

With this result, Bou has extended his lead at the top of the World Trial Championship leaderboard at the same venue that will see the second day of this round in Japan, the Motegi Twin Ring sports complex.

Toni Bou

“My first lap was excellent. A result like this, at the home of Honda, was very important for the team. On a personal level, these points are very valuable as we are only halfway through the championship and there is still a long way to go. We have asked for changes in the zones for tomorrow so that it is more difficult. If it does not rain tomorrow I think the points scores will be very similar for all the riders and we will have to pay special attention at all times”.

Takahisa Fujinami
“I am very satisfied with this result, one which allowed me to get on the podium in my own country. On the second lap I felt more pain, but I do not think that my physical condition has affected my performance in any of the different zones. Looking forward to tomorrow I hope that I can at the least repeat the same result. And if I mange to break Toni`s [Bou] fantastic run it will be an even greater success”.
