Marc Márquez, 6th in the World 125cc Championship, has ended two days of intense practise at the track that will host the final race of the season in November. The Repsol rider worked, together with his teammate, to improve the basic set up on the KTM 125 FRR in the sunshine and good temperatures and the riders ended the day well satisfied.
Márquez shared the track with the two leaders of the classification in this category and they rode at very similar times all day, demonstrating once again the good progress that has been made in the six races so far this season. With a best time of 1 minute 40.5 seconds the Repsol rider improved the fastest lap in last season`s GP in Valencia by half a second.
The overriding objective of these two days were to give Márquez better sensations from the front end of his bike, the thing that the Repsol rider has most criticised in the last few races. The chassis geometry was varied along with the set up on the front fork and this is how the team found the way to let him take corners comfortably, something that will let the tyres work better for longer.
The next date is the Dutch GP which begins in seven days time at the legendary circuit of Assen.
Marc Márquez, 1’40.5 secs, 115 laps, 461 km.
“This practice went well for us because we found quite a few different options that will be useful in the forthcoming races. It is always good to do tests because we can try things out calmly and compare different parts, things that in a GP with just one bike you cannot do. These two days have let us refine the basic set up a little more, and with this it is easier to find the best set up for each track depending on the characteristics of the circuit.”
