Repsol and the Escuela Monlau Competición, two big names in the world of motor racing, have united to push forward the development of future professionals in the sport, such as engineers, mechanics and riders.
The energy company and the school headed by Emilio Alzamora have strengthened a relationship formed in 2003, for the support of young talents in their formative years.
More than twenty students will benefit from grants that will cover half of the inscription costs. The three most highly qualified students in each mechanics course and the four best in the engineering Masters course will receive the funding. In addition, the two most innovative projects presented at the end of the Masters will be rewarded with a prize of 5000 euros.
This alliance will support the best engineers, mechanics and riders in the school as they look to develop their careers as professionals, participating in work experience projects in the Moto3 World Championship and the CEV Repsol.
Marc Marquez, whose career began with the support of Monlau and Repsol, participated in the presentation of the agreement. In attendance for Repsol were Director General of Strategy and Control, Pedro Fernández Frial, and Sub-Director of Public Relations and Sponsorship, Milagros Vior. Director General of Grupo Monlau, Iban Ventura, Director of Monlau Competición, Emilio Alzamora, and Sub-Director of Monlau Competición, Jaime Serrano, represented the school.
Repsol has over 40 years of history supporting the sport, through sponsorship of the various different racing disciplines. In this time, the energy company has become a reference point for technology, innovation and development of products for top level competition. This initiative joins the company’s title sponsorship of the CEV –the stepping stone to the World Championship for the most promising riders.

“This new agreement between Repsol and Monlau Competition is a very exciting project that allows us to participate more closely with youth talents and with our responsibility for their development. This aspect of our sponsorship shows our concern with, and commitment to, society. It is a partnership, rather than merely sponsorship. We are aligning ourselves with something as important to us as the training of these young people and preparing them for the jobs that they want in the future.”

“This project is very exciting. We’re very pleased that, coinciding with our 15th anniversary, Repsol has got involved in the school at this difficult time economically. Repsol can provide us with some of the knowledge of the Repsol Technology Centre, which will help our Master of Engineering course, and also help provide scholarships to students of mechanics -both of cars and motorcycles- and engineers. We are really happy to receive this reinforcement that supports the educational project on which we have been working for 15 years. The school tries to give a chance to young people who want to train to make their dream come true in the future. Repsol’s support will help this and strengthen the sporting structures, be they cars or motorcycles. This type of support is important so that the mechanics and engineers can gain work experience in these structures. It is an added value that we will continue to offer.”
