Marc Márquez and Joan Mir will compete in the Malaysian Grand Prix at Sepang this weekend, in the eighteenth round of the year.
The Sepang International Circuit, located 40 kilometers south of the city of Kuala Lumpur, will host the antepenultimate round of the 2023 MotoGP season this weekend.
The track has four slow corners followed by several straights and a dozen fast corners, and is a place where Marc Márquez has been on the podium five times – 1 victory in 125cc, 2 victories and 2 second places in MotoGP.
The Repsol Honda Team rider faces the first of three consecutive race weekends ready to continue the upward trend in results that he has achieved in recent races.
Joan Mir also has winning experience at Sepang, having achieved a victory during his time in Moto3 during the 2017 season. The Repsol Honda Team rider is in his best form since the start of the year and, little by little, is adapting better to the Honda RC213V.
His goal in these final three races will be to score as many points as possible and further improve his feeling on the track, especially during practice.
MARC MÁRQUEZ:
“Back to work and back for the last push of the year, it will be a very intense three races. The first one we face is Sepang, a circuit which always presents a challenge for us. We have been strong at a few of the last races, but I think honestly in Sepang it will be tough. The longer corners have been more difficult for us this year but of course we will keep on trying and seeing what’s possible. A final race in South Eastern Asia, let’s make sure it’s a good one!”
JOAN MIR:
“Although the results on paper maybe don’t show it fully, we have been coming better and better over the last few weeks. Coming back to Malaysia, we have some information from the test but more than anything it will be a good opportunity to see how we have progressed since the start of the year. It’s another triple so we need to keep our focus and make the most of all the opportunities that present themselves to us.”
