Repsol Moto3 riders challenge for points at Brno

García Dols finishes 16th after a great comeback, and teammate Yamanaka places 17th.

Just a few thousandths of a second denied the two Repsol Moto3 riders from finishing the Czech Grand Prix in the points. Sergio García Dols had a great race, climbing from the back of the field to 16th and setting the third fastest lap.

Rysusei Yamanaka finished just behind his teammate, in 17th place. He was only half a second off repeating his points-scoring performance from the recent Andalusian Grand Prix.

García Dols is 16th in the overall standings with 13 points, and Yamanaka currently lies 20th with 7 points.

“We started far back on the grid today, and at the start there was even contact with some other riders and I lost several positions as a result. At that point I started to fight back, little-by-little, although it was difficult for me to overtake. However, I was up into a good position towards the end of the race. I was in eleventh on the last lap, but contact with another rider took me off-line and I was overtaken. The feeling we take away from this race is positive; we will continue working to get to the level where we should be.”

“I started from seventeenth and we finished the race in that position. I was able to maintain a good pace but I had some problems at the beginning; it is difficult to overtake early on at this track. I think that if I had been further up the order at that moment, I would have finished in a better position -but it wasn’t like that and I had to fight a lot at the back of the field, until I was able to catch the group at the front by myself. I’m not happy with the result, but I was able to gain confidence with my riding, especially on the brakes. Next week we go to Austria, a circuit that I like, and I’m already looking forward to riding there.”
