Repsol and Racing Engineering officially presented with a brilliant event last Tuesday, 27 March in Oviedo (Spain), the team with which they will be facing the 2007 season of the GP2 Series.
The presentation was held at the Hotel La Reconquista in the northern Spanish city and was preceded by a press conference during which the Racing Engineering Team Principal Alfonso de Orleans Borbón, the 2007 team drivers Javier Villa and Sergio Jiménez, and the engineer Andrew Ferguson, answered the different questions asked by the several media representatives who attended the event. After the press conference the team was officially presented in a reproduction of the Racing Engineering pit garage, where the 2007 version of the Dallara GP2, the car that Villa and Jiménez will be driving this season, was covered with the Spanish, Brazilian and Asturian flags. Before unveiling the vehicle, the representatives of Repsol and Telefónica, the two sponsors making it possible for Racing Engineering to compete once again at the highest level, addressed the public. José Carlos Fernández Sarasola, Telefónica Sales Manager for Large Accounts and Javier Inclán, Repsol Sponsorship Director were in charge of the speeches. They both reconfirmed their support to Racing Engineering and expressed their confidence in the fact that the team’s work will lead to major success this 2007 season that will be starting in Bahrain in May. The highlight of the event was the presentation of the two Repsol drivers for the 2007 GP2 Series, Javier Villa and Sergio Jiménez, who addressed the public and then unveiled the single-seater they are going to use this year, together with team principal Alfonso de Orleans Borbón, and the sponsors’ representatives.
