Marc Marquez heads to third Grand Prix of the year, which he inaugurated last season with victory. Hiroshi Aoyama will accompany him for a second race and, in Moto3, Quartararo, Navarro and Herrera will again face an unfamiliar track.

  • – In Austin, Marc Marquez took his twentieth victory in MotoGP 38 races ‒he has a 53% winning percentage.
  • – If Quartararo wins on Sunday in Argentina, he will became the third rider to do so at 15 years of age ‒after Scott Redding and Marco Melandri.
  • – Maria Herrera arrives in Argentina after equalling her best result in the World Championship ‒17th‒ at Austin.

The 2015 MotoGP World Championship arrives in Argentina this weekend. After the comprehensive victory for Marc Marquez in the United States, where he has won his last six visits at three different circuits (3 at Austin, 2 at Indianapolis and 1 at Laguna Seca), the two-time MotoGP World Champion is looking for glory at Termas de Rio Hondo –where last year he was victorious in the first ever race held there. For the second consecutive race this season, he will have Hiroshi Aoyama alongside him in the Repsol Honda Team garage, replacing the injured Dani Pedrosa.

In the lower cylinder class, Fabio Quartararo, Jorge Navarro and Maria Herrera will repeat the challenge that they faced at the first two races of the season: Adapting to an unfamiliar track. Quartararo and Navarro have proven their talent over the opening pair of races, participating in the fight for victory despite a lack of experience in the World Championship. After equalling her best finish from six appearances in the Moto3 World Championship at Austin, Maria Herrera is motivated to continue taking steps forward in her Grand Prix career in Argentina

Marc Marquez

“After a good weekend in Austin, I am feeling relaxed and confident again. Now we travel straight to Argentina for the next round and we have a good momentum which I hope to continue this coming weekend. Argentina is a circuit that I like and it’s the second year we visit Termas de Río Hondo. We had many fans there last year so I hope they all come to support us again this year and we can put on a good show for them”

Hiroshi Aoyama

“The weekend in Austin was complicated due to the weather but we learned a lot. Now we travel to Argentina which is one of my favourite tracks and I had a good race there last year. The track isn’t easy – it has a long straight and many tight corners but I believe the Honda RC213V will work well there. I have a strong teammate to learn from and Dani’s team are all helping me a lot so my confidence is high and I hope to improve from last weekend.”

Fabio Quartararo

“The podium finish in Austin was a great way to prepare for the Argentinian Grand Prix this weekend. That result gives us confidence and a lot of motivation, but we will be riding at a new track for us and we have to keep up the same way of working as at the opening two rounds. I’ve studied videos of last year and played the track on the videogame console, taking note of the braking references. It seems quite tricky and varied. There are many fast corners where you’re really tucking onto the bubble, but leaning over a lot. I like that, so I can’t wait to try it.”

Jorge Navarro

“At Austin we learned a lesson and now we have to move on. Both in the first race and in the US, we were able to adapt quickly and had the pace to be in the front group, so we are positive about things. However, the Argentinian GP is a new weekend and another unknown circuit, and we have to start strong and stay focused from Friday onwards. I don’t know much about what we will encounter at the track, because I have never raced there, but from what I’ve seen in the video of last year’s race and the computer game, it is a track with all kinds of corners and should be fun.”

Maria Herrera

“From what I’ve seen of last year’s race and from playing the videogame, the Termas de Rio Hondo circuit looks nice and hopefully I will have fun there. It has some heavy braking sections, which we will have to work hard to prepare for right from the first free practice, in order to go well in the qualifying session and the race. Every time we get on the bike we take steps forward, so we’ll work hard in Argentina to continue like this.”
