Doug Lampkin
Son of Martin Lampkin, first Trial World Champion and one of the most outstanding figures of trial world wide, Dougie Lampkin brilliantly followed in his fathers footsteps, confirming to be one of the legends of international motorcycling after winning seven consecutive trial outdoor world championships the latest four as Montesa-HRC rider and five trial indoor world titles, also in a row. At the end of the 2004 World Championship, this rider had increased his record of victories in World Championship events to 95. Dougie took part in his first trial event at the age of nine, taking also his first victory. In addition to his current world titles, he has also achieved the European Championship in 1993, two victories as team member of the British team at the Trial des Nations, seven British Championships and two Spanish Championships. His performance in national championships, achieving three British titles, allowed him to move up to the World Championship, where he had his debut in 1983. One year later, at the British Trial, Lampkin took his first victory and since then his improving career has not stopped. He also took over from another mythic champion, Jordi Tarrés. It seemed impossible that somebody would be able to improve the record of victories of the Spanish rider, but Lampkin made it, improving his sports results in a spectacular way. He only needed two years to consolidate himself among the elite. He was fourth in the 1995 season; runner-up in 1996 and from that moment on he began to collect world championship titles in an overwhelming way. World Champion in 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2003, he had to give in in 2004 after the hard push of his team-mate Takahisa Fujinami, but became runner-up setting a record that will hardly be improved in the history of this sport. Lampkin knew also perfectly well how to combine his participation in the outdoor and indoor world championships, the latter being a perfect training during the winter season. An outstanding career of a rider who is still in top shape, and decided to face Fujinami this year in order keep on increasing his record. A sportsman with two faces: decided and spectacular on the bike, an calm and relaxed when he gets off it. A discreet person, who considers golf one of his biggest passions.   Profile and career highlights Date of birth: 23.3.1976Place of birth: Silsden (England)Height: 1.83 m.Weight: 83 Kg.First competition: Trial of Luxembourg 1993First podium finish: Trial of Great Britain 1994First victory: Trial of Great Britain 1994Total victories: 95Titles: 7Years as Repsol rider: 1 (2004)  Hobbies: Bicycle and golf  1991: British Champion Schoolboy B class.1992: British Champion Schoolboy A class.1993: European Champion.1994: British Champion.6th World Championship.1995: 4th World Championship.Runner-up British Championship.1996: Runner-up World Championship.British Champion.1997: World Champion.Winner of the Indoor Trial World Cup.Team victory in the Trial des Nations.British Champion.1998: World Champion.Winner of the Indoor Trial World Cup.British Champion.1999: World Champion.Winner of the Indoor Trial World Cup.Team victory in the Trial des Nations.British Champion.2000: World Champion.Winner of the Indoor Trial World Cup.British Champion.2001: Outdoor and Indoor Trial World Champion.Spanish Champion.2002: Trial World Champion.Runner-up of the Indoor Trial World Championship.British Champion.2003: Trial World Champion.Runner-up of the Indoor Trial World Championship.Spanish Champion.2004: Runner-up Trial World Championship3rd Indoor Trial World Championship.
