Navarro suffers crash and is transferred to Cesena, where he remains under observation to determine if he can ride tomorrow. Quartararo fractures his right ankle and will undergo surgery tomorrow in Barcelona. Maria Herrera places thirty-second.
The San Marino GP weekend began badly for two of the three Repsol riders competing in Moto3. Both Jorge Navarro and Fabio Quartararo suffered injuries on the opening day of action. Navarro took to the track for two full laps this morning, but during his third he suffered a heavy fall at the fast Turn 12 and was hit by another rider’s bike. Race Direction quickly showed the red flag to stop the session, allowing the medical services to attend to Navarro on the track. At the moment he continues at Cesena Hospital, where after a medical examination it was confirmed that he has suffered no fractures and only an abrasion on his neck and back. Due to the blow that he received to the head, Navarro will undergo tests later at the hospital’s Department of Neurology, to confirm that he will be fit to compete tomorrow.
Fabio Quartararo, sixth fastest in the first practice session, also suffered a big crash. His came in the afternoon in the second free practice. The Frenchman fell at Turn 14 at Misano, injuring his right ankle. Tests confirmed a fractured malleolus of the right foot and he will undergo surgery tomorrow at the Hospital Universitario Quiron Dexeus in Barcelona.
Maria Herrera, in her first contact with the Misano circuit, was thirty-first in the morning. She was 2.875s off the best time set by Enea Bastianini in session. In the afternoon, the Repsol rider was able to improve on her morning time and finally occupied thirty-second overall.

“The crash this afternoon was a shame, because in the first practice this morning I felt very good on the bike. We arrived at Misano with a good base after the test at Aragon and I went out on track very motivated. However, at the start of the second free practice, I lost the rear when accelerating out of Turn 14 and was thrown off. I was taken to the circuit medical centre and, after examining me, they told me there was a fracture to my right foot. These are things that happen in racing, so now we are going to Barcelona to recover as soon as possible.”

34th, 1:47.836 sec, 2 laps, 8 km.
“I was looking forward to the San Marino Grand Prix and when I went out on track in the first practice, the bike lost the front when I was going into Turn 12 and I crashed. The doctors have told me that I don’t have any fractures, just some bruises from the fall and an abrasion on my neck and back. In the crash I hit Dalla Porta, for which I apologise for the incident. Luckily there were no major consequences for him or for me. We shall see if we can go out again tomorrow.”

“I am finding Misano a fun track, but today I did not feel too comfortable on the bike. We have not yet found a good setup, even after we have introduced many changes, and I have not noticed any improvement. We have debuted a new chassis that, despite being more agile, I still don’t really like, and I do not know if it suits my riding well. Tomorrow we will test the old chassis in the last free practice and the qualifying session, and in the race we will use the one I like best.”
