- Marc Marquez has achieved victory at Misano on 3 occasions: Once in 125cc ‒ 2010 ‒ and two in Moto2 ‒ 2011 and 2012.
- Marc Marquez holds the fastest lap of the circuit, 1:32.915.
- Dani Pedrosa has finished on the podium 5 times in San Marino, where he won in 2010.
Marc Marquez and Dani Pedrosa start the last third of the season this weekend at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli.
The Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli hosts the thirteenth round of the MotoGP World Championship this weekend. At this track, Marc Marquez took consecutive victories in 2010 (in 125cc), 2011 and 2012 (in Moto2), but it is one of the circuits where he has not yet won in MotoGP, along with Motegi and Phillip Island. His teammate, Dani Pedrosa has finished on the podium five times at the San Marino Grand Prix -including victory in 2010.
In Moto3, Fabio Quartararo and Jorge Navarro come into the latest round with confidence after a positive test conducted last week at MotorLand Aragon. Maria Herrera, who left Silverstone without reward despite reaching fourth position at one stage of the race, will continue her learning process for her debut season.
Free practice will start on Friday at 9am local time, with races at 11am Sunday for Moto3 and 2pm for MotoGP.
Marc Marquez
“Obviously I’m disappointed to have crashed out of the race in the UK, but I was pushing and this can happen when the weather is like that. Of course the Championship is getting further away from us but we were back fighting at the front and this is definitely a positive. Now we head to Misano which is a pretty small and slow track. We were testing there before the Summer break so I hope the data from that test can help us with the setting this weekend. It’s a delicate balance getting the bike right to suit the demands on braking at this twisty track and let’s hope the weather is nice after last weekend!”
Dani Pedrosa
“Silverstone wasn’t the race I ‒ or anyone ‒ was expecting. I felt positive over the course of the weekend, but on Sunday ‒ in the rain ‒ I struggled to find a good feeling. We finished the race, which is important, but this weekend I hope to make another step forward to fight at the front. Misano is a special place and always has a great atmosphere. Let’s hope the sun comes out and we have good weather all weekend so we can start working hard from Friday. It’s a short lap but intense with many overtaking points and it’s quite bumpy, so set up is key. Let’s hope that the work we did there in testing will assist us.”
Fabio Quartararo
“I come to this circuit very motivated. We tried some changes during the test at MotorLand Aragón that went very well, and we are strong. Misano is a circuit with fast corners and many hard braking points. The part I like most is the first section, with the first three corners; I think it could be quite fun. Although I have never raced there, I’m sure I’ll like it a lot.”
Jorge Navarro
“I have already ridden at Misano last year and am in good form, with a positive mentality and the intention to continue building. It is a circuit with many hard braking points that combines very slow parts with very fast sections. We are progressing well and we are lucky to be going to a track that we know.”
Maria Herrera
“I ended up very happy at Silverstone. Although in the end we went home without a reward, it was a great weekend for us and the team worked very well. Now we go to Misano and I’m looking forward to it, but without forgetting that it is a track that I do not know yet and I’m going to have to learn it. We’re struggling a bit to achieve good results, but I know that if we keep working well, they will arrive soon.”
