Second place for Toni Bou in the Marseille Indoor Trial

Toni Bou finished the Marseille Indoor Trial in second place, the second scoring trial in the Indoor Trial World Championship. The Repsol rider participated in an exciting fight for victory, which was decided at the last minute. Bou and Cabestany, finally the winner, completed the four sections of the semi-final with 5 points each, a draw which they maintained until the reigning World Champion was penalised one point at the last obstacle in the final.

His Repsol Montesa HRC team mate, Takahisa Fujinami, achieved the fifth best score among the eight riders that competed in the qualifier, but in the tie-break section to progress to the semi-final, he made a mistake which left him out of the competition. Fujinami is now in sixth place in the championship with 8 points, whereas Toni Bou and Albert Cabestany are tied at the top of the overall standings with 35.

The Barcelona Indoor Trial will be the third trial in the World Championship. It will be held next Sunday 31 January at the Palau Sant Jordi.

Toni Bou
“I didn’t feel too comfortable in these sections; even so, I kept fighting until the end. But I made a mistake which was definitive, as I had no chance to rectify it. I’m not happy because I play to win and second place isn’t good enough.”

Takahisa Fujinami

“For the second time running, I went out in the qualifier. I’m still convinced that the new regulations went against me in the Sheffield Indoor Trial, but here in Marseille, I accept that I was to blame.”
