Sixth position for Jaime Alguersuari in Monaco

There is no doubt that the Monaco GP is special, and using the excuse that F1 was visiting the urban circuit in Monte-Carlo the World Series also went to the Principality of Monaco for a single race. The result was a 6th position for Jaime Alguersuari who climbed two places at the start and another two when his rivals made mistakes.

The glamour and elitism surrounding this race, the third round of the championship, are based on danger and the spectacular images at the circuit, the one in the calendar that does not pardon even the slightest error. Here any mistake is paid with a crash into a barrier and the simple fact of finishing is a big reward given that no driver can ever practice there during the rest of the year.

Prasctice yesterday saw Alguersuari in 10th position, but a good start meant he overtook two rivals and he was 8th at the end of the first lap. On lap 9 mechanical problems on a rival`s car saw him gain another position and 1 lap later a mistake by a driver ahead of him gave him 6th place, the position he defended to the end of the race.

The next race is at the Hungaroring on 13th – 14th June.

“I think this was quite a good race. It was a difficult weekend, above all yesterday`s qualifaction. We only had 45 minutes of free practice and we made a mistake with the set up and we could only finish 10th. I think many things can happen in a race and 6th is a good result because Monte-Carlo is an urban circuit where it is easy to make a mistake and to hit the barriers. We won some points and a lot of motivation to try and win my first race in Hungary. We have to continue working, above all to find a good set up for practice.”
