First row for the both riders of Honda Repsol MotoGP Team
Today, in the African Grand Prix, the first qualifying practice of the MotoGP category has been once again highly contended. And again, the riders of the Repsol Honda MotoGP Team Tohru Ukawa and Valentino Rossi have proven to be two of the fastest riders of the category, fighting for the pole position until the final moments of the timed session. The two-stroke Honda of the Italian Loris Capirossi made the best time of the afternoon followed by Daijiro Katoh and both Repsol riders Ukawa and Rossi. Fonsi Nieto has been very fast in the 250ccm again, making the fourth fastest time in the morning and third fastest in the timed session. His teammate Toni Elías is improving very fast in his process of adaptation to the 250cc. category. He was tenth in the morning and two seconds faster in the afternoon, taking the seventh provisional position. Toni will start tomorrow with the aim of keeping his position on the second row of the starting grid. In 125ccm Daniel Pedrosa has proven once again that he is one of the most regular riders of his category. Third in the morning and in the afternoon’s qualifying practice, Alberto Puig’s pupil is only three tenths away from the pole taken by the current World Champion Manuel Poggiali on his Gilera. His teammate Joan Olivé has remarkably improved with regard to his first practice sessions in Japan, making thirteenth fastest in the afternoon practices.
