The Spanish rider of the Repsol Honda Team, Dani Pedrosa, will try his best to get back to action in the Netherlands, but will probably be back in Mugello
The Continental Circus travels once more to the Netherlands, where it will take place one of the most historic rounds of the World Championship. As tradition dictates, the race will be held on Saturday, not Sunday as in the rest of GPs. Stoner y Dovizioso will arrive to this special round in very good form and after achieving their second 1-2 of the season at Silverstone circuit.
Dani Pedrosa keeps improving every day, but most probably he will not be able to take part in this next round. Hiroshi Aoyama will substitute him in case he does not compete. The Repsol rider will keep working in his recovery and will be able to get again on the bike in the next round of the World Championship after the Netherlands, the Mugello Grand Prix, on July 3.
The new leader of the World Championship, Casey Stoner, lands in Holland with the aim to continue with his run of good results -3 victories in the last 3 races- to increase his advantage of 18 points over the second placed. His team mate at the Repsol Honda Team, Andrea Dovizioso, will try to keep the consistency he has shown during the season and that brought him to the third position of the Championship.
In the intermediate category, Marc Márquez arrives to Assen confident after the positive times he set last week at the test held in Mugell. With the aim to achieve again some good results after the ones he got in Le Mans and Catalunya, Emilio Alzamora’s pupil will arrive to a circuit where last year he got to the highest podium position in the 125cc class.
Dani Pedrosa
“It’s been some days since the surgery and I feel much better. I don’t feel the pain I had before the operation and the evolution has been very good. I’ve already begun the rehabilitation and I am very positive. Every day I notice an improvement and this is very good because I really wish to get back on the bike as soon as possible. To be honest it will be very difficult for me to make it to Assen, but I really believe I will be OK for Mugello, so now I’m focused on working to get better every day and see how far I get. I want to return as soon as possible, but I want to do the right thing”.
Andrea Dovizioso
“After the podium finish at Silverstone, I look forward to race in Assen. I really like the old track, now with the several modifications it has lost a bit his unique identity. We are on good form and feel that we will also be strong this weekend. In particular at Silverstone we did a very good strategy and a good race so I’m motivated to get another strong result for the Championship. It’s a circuit in two sections: the first part is quite slow while the second part, the old Assen, is technically more demanding. I’m really sorry that Dani had to have another surgery. I hope that he recovers soon and he comes back completely recovered”.
Casey Stoner
“It was a tough race in Silverstone and to come away with three wins in a row and also the Championship lead is awesome, so it’s been nice to have a break after such a good time! I’m really looking forward to going to Assen, it’s a nice track, the first section is a little slow and doesn’t do too much for me, but the last part is a lot of fun. I believe the RC212V will work well for us there as it has done at all circuits so far this season. We will work hard to get the set up right on the bike and hope to challenge for another win, but right now we need to go ahead doing our best each race. I’m really sorry to hear Dani had to undergo another operation, he really doesn’t deserve all this bad luck and I hope he’ll be ok soon”.
Marc Márquez
“We arrive to Assen with a lot of motivation, as after the pole position in Silverstone we now that the bike works well and that we are able to be up front. It is a Grand Prix where the weather conditions are very changeable, so let’s hope that it does not rain, to enjoy the three days to the max. I like Assen circuit, I have very good memories of it, but it is very technical and you need to know very well all the areas. I will work on my physical training until Wednesday and on Thursday both the team and I will start to work on track. I know that with effort and taking it step by step we can do things well”.
