Test MotoGP. Cataluña: Rain and low temperatures break off tests in Barcelona.

Rain and low temperatures break off tests in Barcelona.

Only ten riders got onto the track. Nicky Hayden and Alex Barros preferred to wait for better conditions tomorrow.

Bad day for the MotoGP riders at the Catalunya Circuit. Low temperatures, around 5 degrees Celsius and the ceaseless rain that showed up around ten oclock in the morning, caused the second day of the IRTA test to finish ahead of time.

Big deception for the crowd that came out to the Catalan track to watch the MotoGP stars testing. However, the weather forecast does not predict any improvement, since cold temperatures and rain are still threatening to show-up tomorrow. Ten riders went onto the track today, with Japanese Norick Abe setting the fastest time (202.757), making the highest number of laps, a total of 31.

For us the wet is not a problem it is the cold. The GP here is in the middle of June we should have temperatures perhaps 20 degrees or more higher than today so we get no useful data. Everything will be different. We also have to be careful for our rider. Alex is making a good recovery from his shoulder operation and it is so easy to make a stupid mistake for nothing.

A frustrating day hoping for a break in the weather which never came. With the first round of 16 only three weeks away it would have been mad to take a risk for no real purpose. I know these days are difficult for Nicky he really wanted to ride if nothing else to escape the incessant interview requests! Lets hope for a better day tomorrow.
