Over thirty years ago, the Repsol team was the star of the Spanish Rally Championship with one of the Porsche 911s being driven by Ricardo Muñoz and Javier Bueno. For the Rally Costa Brava, Muñoz and Bueno have returned to the competition in a similar vehicle, sporting the Spanish oil company’s classic ‘R’.
Both Ricardo Muñoz and Javier Bueno retired from the competition but continued to be involved in their biggest passion in life, racing cars. Both work as motorsport journalists for different publications and continue to attend major national and international competitions.
Muñoz and Bueno got back behind the wheel in a legendary rally, the Costa Brava, where, on board a Porsche 911, they battled with the best of today’s specialists. This competition was exclusively for the regularity category, a category that this pair is not so familiar with, as they are more used to pure speed.
Several problems with the temperature prevented this historic team from crossing the finish line, but they achieved the initial aim: to reunite a legendary Spanish rally pair. In the Rally Costa Brava, they relived the history of the Team Repsol, unbeatable in the national rallies scene in their day and currently, the most significant classic rally team in Spain.
