Marc Marquez has reached the pinnacle of Grand Prix racing aged 21, with several records set in his seven-year career to date.

Seven seasons ago, a debutante named Marc Marquez was the youngest Spanish rider and the second youngest overall to take a podium in Grand Prix racing. Yesterday, aged 21 and wearing the ever-present Repsol colours, he set new record by winning the premier class title for a second time from his first two attempts.

For the fourth time in five years, Marc Marquez will end the season with a World Championship in his possession. With three races remaining, the Repsol Honda Team rider used his 11 wins from 15 races to secure a World Championship that he has dominated since the first Grand Prix of the season. He still has several records at his fingertips: The Spaniard could equal the 12 wins taken by Mick Doohan in a single season, having taken 11 wins so far this year –10 of them consecutively. His 11 pole positions put him one short of the record set by Doohan and Casey Stoner.
