Toni Bou has won the first day of the Trial British Grand Prix as the World Championship today reaches its mid point. In his first encounter with this special Scottish terrain – a constant combination of rock and water -, Bou took his fourth victory in the current World Championships.
The multi-championship winning rider dominated both rounds of the course at the Fort William venue and increased his advantage to 15 points at the top of the overall standings. Takahisa Fujinami took third position in a brilliant second round in which he climbed two places, leaving him only one point from securing what would have been the double for the Repsol Montesa Honda team.
The second day of the British meeting will take place tomorrow, a World Championship point-scoring event.

“In the second lap I felt bad. On Monday I had a fall while training and got knocked in the ribs. We have worked hard to recover physically and, in that sense, the first lap was more comfortable. Well, the important thing is the win on a terrain which, until today, I didn’t know and which I thought would not go well for me. I’ll have to see what happens tomorrow when I go out first and, in these conditions, it will be very difficult to win again.”

“Without a doubt, a much better result than finishing fourth in Japan. I was on the podium and very close to second. The first round didn’t go well for me, little things that added up. I had to ride some zones with the rear brake broken although, luckily, they were over water and on the incline…In the second round I felt much more comfortable, the worst was the five points which I lost in zone seven. Without those I’d feel much happier.”
