The Repsol Honda rider dominated the first day of the USA Grand Prix, as he finished the race with nearly half the points received by Adam Raga. Takahisa Fujinami ended sixth and Jaime Busto ninth.
Toni Bou returned to the top step of the podium in the seventh round of the Trial World Championship. After three races finishing in second position, the current champion and leader of the World Championship achieved a very important victory that ends the stretch that started in France and continued in Andorra. The USA saw again the best Toni Bou, achieving a crushing victory in a difficult trial.
The United States Trial, held in Rhode Island, was very demanding, particularly after the rain that fell yesterday in the competition’s area. Under those conditions and with zones that were already demanding, Toni Bou rode his Montesa Cota 4RT superbly and achieved a crushing victory in the first day. Bou had secured the race at the end of the first lap from the three that made the itinerary, with only 9 points against the 21 received by his main rival, Adam Raga. At the end of the race, the rider from Piera had a total of 37 points and Raga, second, 69. With this result, Toni Bou increases his lead in the World Championship’s overall classification to 31 points over Raga.
Takahisa Fujinami did not have a good day and finished sixth. The Japanese rider of the Repsol Honda made several mistakes that left him way back in the classification. Jaime Busto did not have a satisfactory race today after suffering some intestinal problems in his debut in the United States. Busto finished in ninth position.
Tomorrow will be the second day of the USA Grand Prix at the Stepping Stone ranch, in Rhode Island. The riders will have to ride through the 12 zones three times.

“Today it went well and I’m happy. The zones were complicated and my rivals started to fail in the first lap, so I could build advantage. Despite some mistakes, I’m very satisfied because I rode very well, I feel very comfortable and happy to be back on the top step of the podium after three races without winning. Yesterday’s rain might have complicated the race, but left a perfect trial.”
Takahisa Fujinami
6th – 100 points
“It was a bad day. When I saw the zones yesterday I like them, and today the public seemed to be animated and everything pointed to a good day, but it didn’t go like that. In the first lap I had little time, I could not look at the zones and lost concentration. I made too many mistakes. Tomorrow I hope to learn from them and improve.”
Jaime Busto
9th – 114 points
“Today I didn’t feel very well due to something I ate. I felt it a lot and wasn’t able to ride comfortably. The second lap wasn’t good, and I couldn’t make up for it in the last one. I hope tomorrow we can change this result for a better one.”
