Toni Bou starts his X-Trial title defence with a victory at Reunion

The Repsol Honda Team rider won tonight the first round of the indoor Championship, which has been held for the first time in the tropical French island

Toni Bou lead both the first phase, with 8 riders, and the second, in which he competed in a group with two of his rivals.

In the finale, the Repsol Honda Team rider faced Adam Raga, securing the win in the second-to-last obstacle zone of the six that made the route.

Next week, the French city of Rennes will be the backdrop of the second round, from the eight included this season in the X-Trial World Championship calendar, that will end in April in Andorra.

Toni Bou:

“I’m very happy to start with a win; that was very important for us. Today I felt comfortable with my riding and we had a very good first part. I’m also happy because it was my first time competing here, with very technical zones. I want to congratulate the organizer for the zones they made. Now we need to start thinking about next week, as in this championship it’s very easy to get out of contention in the semi-final or in some round, as it’s very close. It’s very important to leave this race with these twenty points.”
