Toni Bou wins his sixth X-Trial World Championship

The Repsol rider prevails in the round that took place in Milan today and made history by achieving his sixth consecutive FIM X-Trial World Championship title

Toni Bou secured tonight in Milan the 2012 FIM X-Trial World Championship. With today’s victory in the Italian city and with only one round left to finish the season, the Repsol rider completes a faultless season in which he won the 6 rounds held up to now. This sixth indoor title —all of them consecutive— places Bou as the rider with more titles in the history of the series.

The win achieved today in Milan is the fifteenth consecutive in the Indoor World Championship. The last time the Repsol rider did not get on the highest step of the podium was more than two years ago (January 23rd, 2010, in Marseille) when he finished second. Before the round held this Saturday, Strasburg, Geneva, Marseille, Madrid and Palma de Mallorca surrendered this year to Toni Bou’s display of talent.

This new title consolidates the Repsol Montesa Honda Team rider as one of the most important figures of the history of this sport. At only 26, his X-trial World titel places him as the most successful indoor rider, ahead of Dougie Lampkin (5 Indoor World Championships). Bou and Repsol also have 5 outdoor World Championships and 7 Spanish Championships (5 Indoor and 2 Outdoor) at the beginning of their sixth season together.

The rider from Piera will enjoy his triumph next Saturday, March 31st, in Paris, where the last round of this 2012 X-Trial World Championship will take place.
