The rider of the Repsol Honda Team achieved his third victory of the season and gathered the nineteenth World Championship of his career. Fujinami qualified for the finale but ended out of the podium and Busto took part as guest rider.
Yesterday evening, in Marseille, Toni Bou made his legend even bigger. With his third victory of the season in the fourth and last round of the X-Trial World Championship, the Repsol Honda rider won his tenth consecutive X-Trial. It is also the nineteenth World Champion title in this sport, counting both indoor and outdoor, during a decade in which he has broken all records and has become one of the most successful sportsmen in history.
A mistake in the Qualifying phase that had left him third behind Cabestany and Raga, did not make the Repsol Honda rider give up, but he overturned the situation with a perfect finale in which received no penalty points at all. Takahisa Fujinami was also in the finale, closing the championship in a positive fourth place. Jaime Busto, who participated as a guest rider, did not achieve his aim of improving his previous results in the X-Trial World Championship and finished in eighth place.
The next round for the Repsol Honda Team will be in two weeks, with the start in Barcelona of the FIM Outdoor Trial World Championship. Next April 9 and 10, Bou, Fujinami and Busto will have the two first rounds of the 15 that compose the Championship.
Toni Bou
“Today it went really well. I’m so happy, because we suffered a lot. It was a very difficult race. In the end, not only Adam [Raga] pushed, but also Albert Cabestany was there. I want to say that Adam fought hard during the whole season and made things very difficult for me. When you find a rival of that level, the titles are even more valuable. I’m very happy. Now we can keep living this dream.”
Takahisa Fujinami
“I’m so, so, so happy! Not only because Toni has won yet another title for his track record, but also because I achieved my aim for this race, to Qualify for the finale. I knew it was possible to be in the last phase of an Indoor round and this fourth position lifts my spirit, knowing I can achieve the objectives I set for myself.”
Jaime Busto
“Today it wasn’t a very good trial for me. I wanted to do it well to forget about the previous indoor rounds, but I was very nervous and I didn’t do well in any area. I did it quite bad. I hope to be strong now for the start of the outdoor World Championship.”
