The two times World Indoor and Outdoor Trial Champion, Toni Bou, got a brilliant victory this afternoon in the Palau Sant Jordi in Barcelona. In front of almost ten thousand people, a packed stadium in fact, the Repsol rider carried off his second victory of the season and at the same time increased his lead in the World Championship to six points with just two rounds left.
The first three zones of the layout were very tough and all the riders had at least one fiasco, but the Repsol rider set the base for his victory in this the third round of the World Championship, from the fourth zone onwards, and in the end he finished with a substantial gap between himself and the rest of his rivals. This was not the case for Takahisa Fujinami, because mistakes on zones 5, 6 and 7, made him drop down to fifth position overall.
The fourth and penultimate round in the World Indoor Trial Championship takes place on 26th February in Bolzano (Italy).

“Winning in Barcelona is always important, for two reasons, one because of the history of the event here and secondly because I was competing on home ground in front of my compatriots. I think in this case the win is more valuable because the championship is very short and you have to get as many points as possible in each round. Thinking about the final outcome, it is obvious that things are going well for us, but as always you have to think of the points that are still left to be won and to carry on with the usual plan, which is to take things step by step, without thinking that anything is decided.”

“I started correctly, but I made some mistakes and against rivals as tough as these this is what happens. This is trial and no more explanations are needed. I feel bad after not finishing on the podium and my objective is to be back on it in the two rounds that are left.”
