The Repsol rider Toni Bou increased his lead today at the top of the World Championship after winning the first day of the British GP, fourth round of the World Outdoor Trial Champioship. The reigning World Champion did the two best laps of the track whose demanding level of difficulty was made even tougher because of the intermmitent rain.
His teammate, Takahisa Fujinami, fell on the first lap (zone 13) and received a strong blow to his chest. He was immediately taken to a hospital, and at this moment his condition is being assessed by doctors. Fujinami occupies fifth place overall in the World Championship, and with today´s retirement has dropped two positions.
Tomorrow sees the fith round of the World Outdoor Trial Champioship at the same venue, and Toni Bou will be defending his new lead. At the same time the female Repsol rider Laia Sanz will be riding in Krzeszowice (Poland) in this year`s opening round of the Women´s European Trial Championship, a competition in which she has won seven titles, all of them consecutively.
Toni Bou:
“First of all I want to send a message of encouragement to my teammate Takahisa, who I hope recovers as soon as possible. Today we had a very tough trial from all points of view, and all the time I had Adam [Raga] very close behind, once again demonstrating that he is in great form. Winning in these conditions is even more rewarding. Tomorrow will be another day, I will try to finish on top of the podium again and to win more points, step by step, points that are very valuable”.
