Tough weekend for Arón Canet and Alonso López

Repsol riders finish the race in tenth and twenty-fourth place, respectively.

Arón Canet started in the lead group, but lost touch with the frontrunners after a few laps.

Part of the second group, the Repsol rider fought for the highest number of points possible, ending the race tenth.

With this result, Canet remains fourth in the overall standings.

Alonso López, who rode as high up as thirteenth, gradually lost positions and finished twenty-fourth.

“I started well, I was very comfortable and I was passing other riders very easily. But after a few laps, after a pass, I was left behind. From that moment on, I struggled to recover the feeling that I had at the beginning of the race and I was a little slower. It is clear that tight corners are where we have to improve. We get out of them a little slowly, but it’s my first year; we will continue learning.”

“It was a difficult race, very hard fought and ridden at a very fast pace. I tried to ride as fast as I could and I gave one hundred percent, so I’m happy. The positive thing is that we have found something that we have been looking for throughout the season: Opening the throttle in the right place, neither too late nor too early. The downside is that it was very difficult for us to follow the front group. Now we’re heading to Silverstone, a circuit that I like very much; we will try to improve there.”
