Kato and his brand new Honda RC211V have kept pace in the first two until mid-race, when the Japanese began to lose ground. And while Kato off the pace, everything seemed to provide a thrilling final race between Biaggi and Rossi, but six laps to go, the rear tire of Valentino Rossi has disintegrated and the Repsol Honda Team has had to pit to replace it again. Back at the track, the distance ahead of him the points made you finally give up and retire. With Biaggi Kato first and second, the third position has gone into the hands of the Repsol rider Tohru Ukawa.
