Sebastián Porto: ‘It has been a complicated day because I took a soft compound to make a fast lap and it was defective’.
MotoGP. Alex Barros 10th, 134.500, 24 laps: Today the track conditions feel very strange to me. Ive never felt like this before at this circuit. It seems very hard to get the right feeling. This morning was OK and we make a pretty good pace and this afternoon was going well until I loose the front end and fall. After the crash if was difficult to find a good rhythm again with the second machine and I was a little bit disappointed with my performance. I had trouble finding a good level of concentration after the crash and I know I can go much faster here. For sure we need to as a fourth row start makes it a very difficult race. MotoGP. Rubén Xaus 13th, 134.881, 24: It hasnt been a comfortable day because its been windy and a bit cold. The track is also a bit dirty and that conditions the grip of the track; you could see it in the times of all riders. This is a complicated circuit, where you need to have everything perfectly set to clock good times and I had some trouble to feel comfortable on certain track sections. In addition, this is quite an aggressive bike with a heavy power delivery. Well keep on improving to make it the best possible in this last race in front of such an incredible crowd. I had already raced here on Superbikes, but there were fewer spectators. This time Ive been receiving tokens of affection since I arrived. Its really nice to feel so wrapped up, so Ill give my very best to do a good job. MotoGP. Nicky Hayden 14th, 134.938, 27 laps: That didnt go very well at all today not at all. The last few races I havent had a very good feel at all with the qualifiers. I like this track a lot and this morning it all felt pretty OK. We made some changes this afternoon that I didnt like. The bottom line is that I pretty much screwed up with both qualifiers. It always sounds like an excuse to say I got held up on both fast laps but I did! Im not going to moan about it; Im 14th and Im going to have to go a lot faster tomorrow. I know I can; just hope it stays dry. 250. Sebastián Porto 2nd, 137.234, 18 laps: It has been a complicated day because I took a soft compound to make a fast lap and it was defective. There were five minutes left and it was really hard to improve times. The track conditions werent good either, there wasnt much grip and it was very windy. Due to these conditions we had to change the settings of the bike completely. Too bad about the tyre, but Im second anyway and very close to the pole. The most important is to improve tomorrow to be in the front. 250. Fonsi Nieto 11th, 138.860, 19 laps: Things didnt work out well today because were having several problems which we cannot solve. We have to keep on working to find the necessary improvements to be able to be back in the front. Now Ill sit down with my mechanics to see what we can do for tomorrow, because if were not able to improve, the race on Sunday will be more than difficult. 125. Sergio Gadea 2nd, 141.098, 15 laps: Im very happy; I set the fastest time in the morning and could hardly believe it! I didnt want to get too excited because it was the first practice but it went well in the afternoon as well. I had some problems at the beginning of the timed lap but in the end we managed to set the bike and got a good pace. I like this circuit a lot, because Im at home and it is here where we spend most of the pre-season, you could see that in the results. Todays result is good, but theres still tomorrow. Ill keep on doing my job, as I did in Australia and well all give our best to do a good job.   125. Pablo Nieto 4th, 141.333, 14 laps: Being among the top riders is always positive, especially when youre racing at home. This is a circuit I like a lot and the truth is that Im really looking forward to do a good job. I think that this is going to be a very hard weekend, but we will work to the limit to finish the year with a good result. The bike worked well today so were not going to make big changes for tomorrow.
