Valuable second place for Toni Bou

The Repsol rider achieves another podium position under the rain and will face tomorrow the last round of the Championship with an advantage of 10 points

The penultimate round of the current Trial World Championship season finished with another second place for Toni Bou, who tomorrow will face the all-important second day of the European Grand Prix with an advantage of 10 points in the overall standings. The Repsol rider was able to keep the concentration despite the heavy rain to take a second position that gets him closer to his tenth world title, fifth of the Outdoor World Championship.

Bou had in the first lap one more point than the winner, Adam Raga, who increased his margin in the second lap, when the rain started, to the detriment of the Repsol Montesa Honda Team rider. Nevertheless, Bou was able to finish in second position, which will allow him to face tomorrows round with a 10-point advantage and will be enough for him to finish in the top six to secure the title for the fifth year in a row.

Takahisa Fujinami was fifth this time, also affected by the rain, and has already secured the third position in the overall standings. A week after achieving her tenth Female European Championship and her eleventh Trial World Championship, Laia Sanz finished thirteenth of the Junior category.

Toni Bou,
“I think I did a good race. Adam [Raga] rode on dry and I had a lot of rain, especially in the second lap, so I think the outcome was positive. The work to defend the title is nearly finished. Tomorrow I will ride cautiously and thinking only about the Championship”.

Takahisa Fujinami,
“We started with a strong pace because we knew it would rain. I entered the zones without looking too much and that cost me some mistakes, maybe too many. In the second lap I worked for the team, riding ahead of Toni [Bou] in the zones so that he would have a more precise idea of which was the correct line in such difficult conditions “.

Laia Sanz,
“After winning the Females European and World Championships last week I competed under no additional pressure and I am satisfied with the result. The second lap was difficult, as I had rain from the beginning “.
