The rider from Valencia closed a perfect weekend where he dominated the FIM CEV Repsol round by taking the pole position, setting the fastest lap of the race, and securing the win and the lead of the Moto3 Junior Championship.
The Le Mans Circuit has been the scene for the second year in a row of a FIM CEV Repsol round. The Moto3 Junior World Championship held its second round of the season – after its debut three weeks ago in Portugal – completely dominated by the rider of the Monlau Repsol Technical School, Aron Canet, who took the pole position, the fastest lap of the race, the win and the lead of the Championship. The Malaysian rider Khairul Idham Pawi got on the second place of the podium and The Netherlands’ Bo Bendsneyder, on the third.
In the first part of the race, the accident of the Italian rider Tony Arbolino forced the red flags to appear, with the race starting again at 12 laps from the 17 scheduled. After his crash, Arbolino was sent to the nearest hospital for further checks. After the restart, Aron Canet led the first group during most of the race and reached the chequered flag in first position with an advantage of more than half a second.
This first victory for Canet in the Championship, together with the crash of Joan Mir – winner of the Portimao race – gave the lead of the Moto3 Junior World Championship to the Valencian, followed by Khairul Idham Pawi – 16 points behind – and Bo Bendsneyder – 18 points away.
The next round of the FIM CEV Repsol will take place on June 21st at the Barcelona-Catalunya Circuit and the Moto2 and Superbikes category will resume the competition together with Moto3, which will have two races at the Catalan track.

“I’m very happy and I enjoyed the race a lot. In the first start I took the lead and tried to push. There was an accident behind and I was getting some advantage but the race was stopped and we had to go back to the garage. In the restart I took the lead from the beginning. I was able to keep my position and in the end I won, so I’m very happy. It is a Championship with a very high level, so we’ll see where we are in the next races, but we hope to do well.”
