Double podium for the Repsol Montesa Honda team in Italy, where Toni Bou increases his lead and Takahisa Fujinami strengthens his third position.
The several times World Champion, Toni Bou, achieve at the Italian Grand Prix his fourth victory –the last three, consecutive– in this World Championship season. With this success, the Repsol rider completes a tough weekend, where he increased his lead in the overall standings, now of five points over his closest rival.
His teammate, Takahisa Fujinami, fought for the second place until the end of the round. A couple of mistakes in the last zones sent him to the third position, a great result for the Japanese rider, who returns to the podium and reinforced his third place in the overall standings.
The ninth round of the Trial World Championship will take place next Sunday, July, 14th, in Kramolin (Czech Republic).
Toni Bou
“It was a great weekend: yesterday the Cota 4RT was unveiled and today I take the victory, my third consecutive, and with my teammate on the podium. I arrived in Italy with and advantage of two points and I leave with five. It was a complicated round, the ones I like, with three very difficult zones that definitely decided the result. I wish all the rounds we will have in the future would be as demanding as this one, but I’m sure there will be an easier one that will make us suffer.”
Takahisa Fujinami
“Returning to the podium after three rounds is very satisfying. Pity that in the end, due to an absurd mistake, I lost the second place for which I had been fighting all day. I’m disappointed for that, because I can’t afford those mistakes. Nevertheless, I saved an important podium to complete a great weekend for the team, with Toni’s [Bou] win and the presentation of the new Cota 4RT.”
