Victory for Toni Bou in France to secure the title

The Repsol Honda Team rider achieved his seventh consecutive win this season and Takahisa Fujinami finished again in fifth place

The French Grand Prix finished with yet another victory for Toni Bou, who, after taking the pole position yesterday, dominated the race today since the first lap.

After receiving seven points as penalty after the first pass through the zones and one extra due to time, in the second lap he barely got another point, finishing with less than half the penalty points received by the second.

Takahisa Fujinami was third at the end of the first lap, with just one point more than the second, but four fives in the last seven zones prevented him from keeping that position and he finished fifth.

The last round of the championship will take place on September 22nd at La Nucia, Spain.

Toni Bou:

Today’s has been a race in which it has been very difficult for me to set a difference, especially in the first few zones. We did a very smart race and I felt comfortable on the bike. As always, there is no better way to win another title than with a victory and with a good feeling.

It has been a short, yet intense World Championship. I think we have matured a lot this season. Last year we had many injuries but this year I felt comfortable on the bike and that has been shown with victories and in our riding. Now’s the time to live the moment and enjoy our holidays.”

Takahisa Fujinimani:

“During the first lap I felt very confident with the bike and with myself, finishing several zones with a zero and being second, tied with Busto. But in the second lap I felt that the pace wasn’t so good. Races are like that, for now I’m fourth in the championship. Now we’ll go for the last race in Spain. I also want to congratulate Toni Bou for his 26 titles, as well as his family and the whole team, because all of them worked very hard. I’m very happy to be his teammate.”
